The Little Bag NFS
I was talking to my leatherwork tutor/teacher/guru/wizard about wanting to make a little bag that holds my phone and a pen etc for school. So he designed this little guy for me to meet that need but also (and more importantly) to learn more technical aspects of leatherwork during its construction. Pretty rad. He suggested making it from black leather and I said not a chance, it shall be tan. And so it was - the small bag, in tan.
Two solid days working on it under tuition and then a good few more hours finishing it at home and I have one gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous little bag.
During the two days of tuition I learnt the technical gusset construction, how to install the hardware, technical cuts and of course burnishing the edges to the extent they are. Most people tokenole and slick. No no no that’s too rustic - this has about 6 stages.
I was rushing off to work the day I finished it, and I ran out of time to make the strap, so grabbed a vintage plaited belt I had and I like how it softens the bag so much I’ve never changed it. The belt is nearly worn through and when it dies I think I’ll plait one the same as it.
So yes. The little bag.
